Teaching Approach

At the Lumbini Mandalay, our teaching approach is designed to support the holistic development of every child.

We focus on:

  • Child-centred learning - placing students' needs, interests, and abilities at the heart of instruction
  • Inquiry-based learning - encouraging students to ask questions, explore, and discover knowledge actively
  • Critical thinking - developing students' ability to analyse, evaluate, and solve problems independently
  • Culturally responsive and contextualized learning - incorporating local knowledge, cultural values, and community context into teaching and learning processes

Assessment Methods

The Lumbini Mandalay uses various assessment methods to understand each child's progress and provide meaningful feedback.

Diagnostic Assessment

Diagnostic assessment is any kind of assessment to determine the current knowledge and skills before a lesson, a unit or a program is delivered. It happens before an instructional unit. The purposes of diagnostics assessments are to assess what students know and help teachers in making decisions about instruction and scope of the lessons.

Formative Assessment

Formative assessment is any kind of assessment that is used to monitor students' learning and provide effective feedback so that teachers can improve instruction, and students will have opportunities to improve their learning. It helps students know their strengths, weaknesses, and target areas to improve. It happens during or before the instructional unit ends.

Summative Assessment

Summative assessment is any kind of assessment that is used to evaluate students at the end of an instructional unit. The assessment is carried out to measure students' learning against benchmarks or learning standards. It is to inform the achievements of students to parents, students, and other stakeholders.
